Energy Assistance Programs

If you or a loved one are experiencing financial struggles, you don't have to go it alone. Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, or AEOA, offers an Energy Assistance Program to help pay your energy costs. Additionally, AEOA has the Weatherization Assistance Program for qualified low-income residents in need of home renovations. If you are a Grand Marais Public Utilities customer, contact AEOA for assistance. Arrowhead Electric Cooperative customers also have access to a Financial Assistance Program.

Provides financial grants to be used towards energy costs for residential heating bills. Additional funds are available for crisis situations and energy-related repairs. Information on energy conservation related practices are also available.

AEC will work with you if you are experiencing financial hardship.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, assists eligible low-income households with financial assistance with home heating and cooling energy costs, bill payment assistance, and energy crisis assistance. For help with home energy bills contact your state or tribe. You can also call the National Energy Assistance Referral (NEAR) hotline at 1-866-674-6327.

AEOA's highly qualified energy Auditors evaluate your house and then experienced and skilled work crews will complete improvements to reduce heating costs. Services are free for low-income households who qualify.
