In 2018 the Grand Marais Public Utilities Commission (PUC) installed 144 solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on the rooftop of the Grand Marais Public Works building. You can see how much power these panels are generating, in real time, by clicking on the "live meter" button below.

Solar power for PUC customers is also generated by a 22 kW system on the roof of the Cook County Whole Foods Co-op, a 6 kW system at the Art House B&B, and one residential system rated at about 5 kW.
