FUTURE PROJECTS

CCLEP has been working closely with Arrowhead Electric Cooperative on a feasibility study for a large-scale solar and battery storage project . The proposed project would include a 1.3MW solar array that would provide locally-generated solar energy to all Arrowhead Electric Co-op members. The project would also include a large-scale battery storage system to enable Arrowhead Electric to store the solar energy and to help optimize peak electricity demand. The preliminary feasibility analysis was completed in July 2020. A decision on whether to proceed with the project will be made by the Arrowhead Electric Coop Board. 

CCLEP has also discussed the potential of similar locally-sited large-scale solar and storage projects with SMMPA, the electricity supplier for Grand Marais PUC customers.
